It’s in the bloodline!
John W. Silver, great-grandfather to Roger Allen, started Silver Motor Freight Terminal in Springfield, Ohio. His company was one of the first to acquire and authority when it was required for trucking companies to have one.
John Silver had a daughter, Hazel Ward, that took over the Silver Motor Freight Terminal. When Roger was 17 years of age, he went to work for his great-aunt. Hazel handed him a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations book and told him to study that book. If he was going to work in the trucking industry, driver or safety director, he needed to know the regulations.
